Marcia Monteiro ASSOCIATE PRODUCER About Marcia My first job in production was in Brazil, when my neighbor got a big contract and hired me to help crafting 250 feather head pieces to a Samba School in Carnival time. I was 13 years old. It was a lot of work that just got me into the concept of “getting things done”. That is production: coming from idea to final project and results, going through all stages. Later, after graduating in Journalism, I worked as production assistant to famous Brazilian Artists: Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Raul Seixas, Nei Matogrosso and others, travelling the country doing the University Circuit with about 80 shows per season. Also worked with Milton Nascimento in recordings and concerts. After that I’ve been working in Production nonstop with local and international artists in Tours, Jazz and Rock Festivals, doing from transport coordination, backstage production and catering, interpreter, personal assistant and production coordination and assistance. I would never refuse any job, big or small and had opportunity to work with international groups and artists such as: Genesis, Earth Wind and Fire, Prince, Queen, Rod Stewart, the Police, Paul McCartney and Wings, jazz greats BB King, Stanley Clarke, Al Jarreau, Weather Report, Sarah Vaughn and David Sanborn with different production Companies (GAPA, Showbras, Vasglo, Rock in Rio, Free Jazz Festival, Poladian, Gege Producoes, Wigwam, Radiovision and MTV). Worked with Warner Records, EMI Odeon and Polygram with many emerging Brazilian artists and groups such as Titas, Kid Abelha, Paralamas do Sucesso, Legiao Urbana and others. As recording assistant and tour manager of Djavan, I’ve travelled to many countries and met many other producers and artists. After working in Los Angeles in his album with producers Quincy Jones and Ronnie Foster, I came to New York City and just stayed. In NYC I was introduced to the West Side Cultural Center in Manhattan and worked as Associate Producer of ECOFEST Environmental Festival coordinating exhibits, performers, sponsorship packages, press releases, graphics, logistic, staff and volunteers. Originally in Riverside Park and Gateway in Brooklyn, the Festival moved to Lincoln Center and later to Central Park and Times Square. Also with WSCC A Taste of Broadway with Broadway artists performing to NYC Public School Students twice a year. It is still ongoing in Spring and Holiday Season shows. NYC is a paradise for all sorts of events and I worked with Genart Film Festival, DOC Fest, NY Television Festival, Tribeca Film Festival (since 2002), NY Film Festival at Lincoln Center and Produced and Directed short films: 400 years Anniversary of Jamestown for Pilot Productions and Higher Resolution for the International Documentary Challenge. Special Events with Dalzell Productions and David Stark Design in fundraisers, Festivals, weddings, award ceremonies, Bar Mitvazh, graduations ceremonies and red carpet events. With Puppetry Arts Brooklyn: Board member and participant in annual Intrepid Kids Week, Park Slope Festival Halloween Parade, and after school programs in Brooklyn Public Schools. Dance Parade as NYDP: New York Dance Police and Thanksgiving Day Parade in street operations. Production Coordinator at Amazonia Brasil, citywide event with exhibits at South Street Seaport, United Nations and World Financial Center with Fare Arte. Ringo Films in the Recession Proof Party. It's been a fascinating road that is still leading to places. My View Of The Insurance Man For this project, we have ambitious plans to introduce actors, characters, places, conditions and life stories. At production level, we are planning, adapting, and making it happen with the ideas and participation of all. Still in pre-production and facing odd circumstances of the times, we are working and developing the possibilities to make it a relevant film. Marcia Monteiro
